The Norwegian Forest Cat

The Norwegian Forest cat is a large, semi-longhaired cat that originated in Norway and made its way over to the United States. This large cat is a homebody that enjoys the company of other pets and their human companions as well, this is one of the reasons why I absolutely love this cat. With well insulated, waterproof fur this majestic cat was made for the outdoors but for the benefit of the cat owners are encouraged to keep them as inside pets for various health reason, as well as avoiding getting hit by a car and also evading predators. These cats are quite expensive, especially if it’s purebred so you might want to think twice before letting this cat roam free outside. People definitely wouldn’t hesitate to snatch the little cat up and sell it for a good amount of money. Males of this breed can weigh up to 12 to 16 pounds and the females, 9 to 10. This breed is moderately active with short bursts of energy and following the short bursts of energy is a long nap. These cats are very intelligent so they need to be stimulated to be kept out of trouble. Scratching posts are a must if the cat hasn’t been declawed, climbing trees would equally be beneficial because these cats like to climb and they like to explore and be high. They are very low maintenance cats and require little to no grooming for they are very self-sufficient and take care of the grooming themselves. The most you will have to do it clean its icky litter box! These cats are like any other cats though, if you don’t keep up with the little box it will start using the bathroom elsewhere. Cats are very clean by nature and do not like being dirty so keep that in mind when you’re looking into getting a cat for a pet. When it comes to cuddling it only happens on their terms, when they want to cuddle they will definitely let you know. Owning one of these felines will keep you thoroughly entertained and you will never be bored again because these big guys are a trip!
