Bengal Cat

The Bengal cat is a cross between a nondomestic cat, Asian leopard cat and the domestic cat. These cats can live for up to 15 years and are very affectionate and lively. This cat could never be called delicate. For being in the weight range of 8 to 15 pounds, Bengals are far from that, this cat is athletic and very agile with a strong muscular body and although this cat looks like it belongs in the jungle its makes a pretty good housecat. They may not look like the kind of cat you would want in your house, but trust me, these cats love people and love interacting with humans and other animals. Bengals are very confident, talkative, and highly alert so nothing escapes its notice. If it finds something to be very intriguing this cat will definitely check it out. The Bengal cat is so intelligent that it can learn tricks and loves to play games, including fetch. This cat is also not afraid of water so please keep the toilet seat down and keep your fish bowls covered because this cat will more than likely get into a whole lot of trouble. Cats love to climb and since this cat is partially wild the Bengal loves to be up high. It can often be found perching at the highest point in the house, like on top of the Christmas tree, or fridge. So humans, when thinking of owning a cat like this you might consider buying a tall cat tree, this will stimulate the animal and give it the confidence it needs to be comfortable in your home. This lovely cat may be active but when it finally starts to slow down it will not hesitate to jump on your lap for a little cat nap.  But be careful this cat loves being warm “like most cats” so don’t be surprised when you wake up at night with the covers wrapped around the cute little Bengal and not your body. Definitely consider keeping this cat indoors, as I keep saying in my other posts it’s more beneficial for the cats to stay indoors because it protects the cat from disease, getting hit by a car, theft, and being prayed on. If you’re not too keen on keeping an indoor cat maybe consider getting another cat or build an enclosure for it outside. The enclosure would provide safety as well as preventing someone from stealing your purebred cat and selling it for money or keeping it for their own purpose.
